Ms. Perkins

5th Grade

Welcome! This is my second year teaching 5th grade at Sonoma Charter and I couldn't be more proud to be a Jaguar! I love being a part of this warm and welcoming community that seeks to provide rich and meaningful learning experiences for all students. I grew up near the Russian River in Forestville and currently live in Cotati with my husband and two dogs, Pepper and Bernie. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California in Santa Barbara and recieved my teaching credential from Sonoma State University. I've been working with young people in various capacities for over 10 years but truly found home in the classroom. When I'm not teaching you can find me in the kitchen trying out a new recipe, spending time with friends and family at the beach, or watching a movie at home with my dogs.

My goal this year is for students to take responsibility for their learning and enhance independent problem solving skills both academically and socially. I love watching students have their "light bulb" moment when new and challenging content becomes clear. I hope to encourage students to do their best work and take pride in their learning. We will read and write every day, learn to use academic language when talking about math, journey through the discovery and creation of the United States, and make new scientific inquiries. Let the adventure begin!
